Erbil Governor: “(37 billion and 500 million dinars) has been allocated for service projects in Koya district and Koya has received the lion's share”
"Koya is a very important district in Erbil governorate. We ask God to give us long life and the necessary resources to serve this beloved city, because it deserves to provide the most services."
On Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw visited Koya city and visited several strategic and important service projects in the district, said in a press conference, he highlighted the budget allocated for all the service projects within the framework of the development projects of Erbil governorate for Koya. He added that the total amount allocated for the delivery of service projects in Koya, some of which are under implementation and some of which will be implemented is (37 billion and 500 million dinars).
The governor of Erbil said: “Koya district with all its sub-districts is one of the most important districts in our province and we as the Kurdistan Regional Government and Erbil governorate will provide whatever is necessary for Koya. The budget allocated for Koya district this year is (37 billion and 500 million) dinars, some of the projects are currently under implementation and others are being implemented. Of these, (15 billion) dinars are from the development budget and the regular budget of Erbil governorate, which is (6 billion and 300 million) dinars allocated for the two-sided federal street. In addition, another (7 billion and 500 million) dinars have been approved and are currently preparing designs for the Haji Qadir Koya square project, which is a strategic street in Koya city and the work has been completed in the Ministry of Municipalities. In addition, several projects have been implemented through the Erbil Road Protection and Repair Directorate and reconstruction in many villages of Koya districts with about (15 billion) dinars. If we compare the total amount of (37 billion and 500 million) dinars with other districts in Erbil governorate, Koya district has received the lion's share. This is not a good deed done for the people of Koya, but the needs of the people of the region and we as the Kurdistan Regional Government and Erbil governorate are at the service of our people.".
Erbil governor about Koya's position and the history of that city, said:“We as the governorate and all the teams of the governor's office, districts and offices of Koya insist on the demands of the citizens of that region,if you ask any of us what has been done for Koya according to its history, geography, position, importance and characteristics, we will certainly feel that what has been done for it has not been in line with our expectations and wishes, but we intend to serve this district and its sub districts and all other districts of our governorate in the best way. Koya city has its own importance and characteristics we assure everyone that we will do what we can for the people and the land of Koya.".
The governor said: "As the governorate of Erbil under the guidance of Prime Minister Mr. Masrour Barzani, we will implement service projects without discrimination and equally between the city and outside the city, according to the available resources on the governorate development budget and the regular governoratel budget, we will deliver the projects to all villages, districts and neighborhoods that need more attention.”.
Regarding the Koya-Erbil double-sided road, the governor said: “The double-sided road project (Erbil-Koya) is a strategic project and requires a lot of budgets. However, it is within the plans and programs of the Kurdistan Regional Government. We as the governorate are constantly on the line with all the relevant ministries to implement this project. This project is in four stages. the fourth phase, which is near Koya, has been approved by the Ministries of Municipalities and Reconstruction and is currently being designed and will start soon. The other stages are in the government's plan I am sure that the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Council of Ministers and all ministries will help us to implement this project. In addition to the demands of citizens the road will benefit the people of Koya and will solve a major problem in Erbil.".
The governor of Erbil said:“The Kurdistan Regional Government is the government of the whole Kurdistan and there is no border or geography to separate us. Koya is a very important district in Erbil governorate It deserves the most services.”.
