Message from the Governor of Erbil on the anniversary of the Sinjar tragedy

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Today marks the ninth anniversary of the Yazidi Kurd massacre, in which thousands of people were slaughtered or disappeared, and tens of thousands more were displaced. We salute the courageous contribution of the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces in liberating Mount Sinjar, donating blood in Sinjar, and exacting revenge on ISIS terrorists.
Unfortunately, nine years after the Sinjar catastrophe, the wounds of Sinjar have not healed, and the suffering and displacement of the Yazidi brothers and sisters continues due to the imposition of militias and illegal armed groups.

On this occasion, we urge for an agreement between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi government to normalize the situation in Sinjar, return the refugees to their original status, and end the anguish and suffering of the Sinjar people.

Greetings to the souls of the Yezidi Kurd genocide martyrs and victims, as well as all Kurds and Kurdistan martyrs.
