UAE CONSUL GENERAL BIDS FAREWELL TO ERBIL GOVERNOR
On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw received UAE Consul General Ahmed Al-Zahri at the Governorate Office.
During the meeting, Consul General Al-Zahri announced the end of his tenure in Erbil, noting that his government has appointed a new consul who will assume duties soon.
He expressed his profound gratitude to Governor Khoshnaw, the Erbil Governorate administration, and the Kurdistan Regional Government for their cooperation and support throughout his years of service.
"Throughout my time in the capital Erbil, I have always felt at home among family, and I have considered Kurdistan my second home," Al-Zahri stated.
In response, Governor Khoshnaw assured the former Consul General that "Erbil's doors will always remain open to you, and Kurdistan is your home." He praised the significant role played by Al-Zahri, the UAE Consulate, the UAE government, and the Emirates Red Crescent in their coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government, Erbil Governorate, and the Barzani Charity Foundation in implementing humanitarian initiatives and service projects.
The Governor particularly commended Al-Zahri's tenure, noting that "relations between the Kurdistan Region and the United Arab Emirates have witnessed significant advancement during your term of service." He acknowledged the strengthened bilateral ties and enhanced cooperation across various sectors during Al-Zahri's diplomatic mission.
The Governor wished Al-Zahri success in his future endeavors and expressed hope that the same level of friendship and cooperation would continue with the incoming UAE Consul General, aimed at further strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE.
Before concluding the meeting, the UAE Consul General reiterated his appreciation to the Erbil Governor for all the support and facilitation provided to the consulate during his tenure in the capital city.
