The Governor of Erbil receives the Russian Consul in Erbil

Today, Monday, November 25, 2024, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, received Maxsim Rubin, the Consul General of Russian Federation in Erbil, at the Governor’s office.

During the meeting, discussions revolved around the relations between the Kurdistan Region and Russia, emphasizing the importance of maintaining and strengthening these ties.

The Governor of Erbil highlighted the historical connections between the Kurdish and Russian peoples, expressing hope that mutual respect and cooperation would further enhance these historical relations.

For his part, the Russian Consul General acknowledged the support and coordination of the Erbil Governorate with the consulate, praising the Kurdistan Region’s significant role in fostering ties with Russia.

He also reaffirmed his country’s readiness to deepen relations with the Kurdistan Region across various sectors. Additionally, the meeting included discussions on launching a twinning mechanism between Erbil and the Russian city of Tula.
Both sides underscored their commitment to preparations for this initiative.
