Omed Khoshnaw: We conveyed the issues of Kurdish travelers at Sabiha Airport to the Governor of Istanbul
The Governor of Erbil, currently in Istanbul to participate in the MUSIAD EXPO 2024 exhibition, addressed the concerns during a press conference with the Governor of Istanbul. He stated, “We have raised the issues faced by travelers from the Kurdistan Region at Sabiha Airport to the Governor of Istanbul.”
On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, during a joint press conference with Davut Gul, the Governor of Istanbul, stated: “We discussed the situation of the people of Kurdistan with the Governor of Istanbul. Many visit Istanbul for medical treatment, business, or leisure but face issues at Sabiha Airport. We urged the Governor of Istanbul to take an active role in resolving these problems encountered by Kurdish travelers at the airport.”
He added, “With gratitude, Davut Gul, the Governor of Istanbul, accepted our invitation to visit Erbil.” Davut Gul, the Governor of Istanbul, stated during the press conference: “We discussed the relations between Erbil and Istanbul with the Governor of Erbil, as well as the coordination needed to facilitate travel between the two cities. With the grace of God, the issues faced by travelers will be resolved.”
On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, upon the invitation of Turkey’s Minister of Trade, a delegation from the Kurdistan Region, including Ano Jawhar, Minister of Transport and Communications; Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil; Aydin Maruf Selim, Minister of State for Minority Affairs; Sarwar Hawari, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry; and the presidents and members of the chambers of commerce of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, participated in the opening of the MUSIAD EXPO 2024 in Istanbul.
The event was attended by Turkey’s Vice President, several ministers, high-ranking officials, and business leaders.
The exhibition, which hosted companies from 100 countries, also featured participation from the Kurdistan Region.
During the event, the Kurdistan delegation held several meetings and discussions within the framework of the exhibition.
