Erbil Governor Receives the Commander of Italian Forces

Today, Monday, May 5, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received Antonello Andriottiola, Commander of the Italian Army Forces, and an accompanying delegation at the Governorate headquarters.
 

During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil emphasized the importance of relations between Italy and the Kurdistan Region. He noted that Italy has been an important country within the International Coalition and the war against ISIS terrorists. He highly valued the role of the Italian forces and their support and cooperation, especially in the field of training the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces, and expressed hope that their coordination and partnership with the Peshmerga forces would be further enhanced.

The Governor of Erbil also expressed gratitude to the the Italian forces' Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) team, who have played a significant role in cooperating with and supporting government institutions, particularly in the health sector. He noted they have also delivered several diverse charitable projects. In this regard, he emphasized greater coordination and cooperation between their team and the Erbil Governorate.
 

For his part, the Commander of the Italian Joint Forces expressed gratitude to the Governor of Erbil for his position and recognition of their forces' assistance. He also assured that they would continue their humanitarian cooperation with the Erbil Governorate, as well as their advisory role and relationship with the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces.
