 The Governor of Erbil paid a visit to the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil

Today, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, accompanied by Shaker Hussein, Head of Relations between the Region and Iran, visited the Iranian Consulate in Erbil and was welcomed by Faramarz Asadi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran.


During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil expressed his great appreciation to Mr. Asadi and the staff of the Iranian Consulate in Erbil for organizing his previous visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. He thanked them for facilitating his participation in the (Iran - Expo 2025) exhibition and for arranging a series of important and successful meetings and discussions with the Vice President, the Deputy Foreign Minister, the Minister of Industry, the Governors of (Tehran, Qazvin, Zanjan, Urmia), a number of other parliamentarians, and the presidents and members of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, businessmen, and entrepreneurs. He highly valued their efforts in the organization and scheduling of the meetings, discussions, and the overall visit program. 


In another part of the meeting, both sides discussed the preparations and planning for the broad annual meeting of the border governors of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the governors of the Kurdistan Region. This meeting is scheduled to take place next week in the city of Sanandaj, "Kurdistan Province," with the attendance of an official delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government headed by Omed Khoshnaw.
The purpose is to strengthen relations between the provinces of (Erbil, West Azerbaijan (Urmia), Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, Kermanshah, Halabja) and to bolster commercial and economic activity between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kurdistan Region.
 


Finally, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran showed his happiness regarding the Erbil Governor's visit to the consulate. He wished for their next visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran to be successful and reaffirmed his and the consulate's readiness for all cooperation and support for that purpose.
