Erbil Governor receives Iranian Consul General
Today, Sunday, June 1, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received Faramarz Asadi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil, and an accompanying delegation in the presence of Shaker Hussein, Head of relations between the Kurdistan Region at the Governorate office.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of developing relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kurdistan Region. Afterwards, the discussion focused on the visit of the Kurdistan Regional Government delegation in the middle of last month to the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, and accompanied by the Governors of Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, and Halabja. This included their participation in the third meeting of the border provinces with the Governors of Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and West Azerbaijan, and their meeting and discussion with Mr. Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Regarding this matter, the Governor of Erbil expressed his great thanks to the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Asadi, the staff of the Iranian Consulate in Erbil, and the Directorate of Region-Iran Relations. He highly valued their efforts in organizing the visit, preparing and planning the program of their meetings and discussions, and developing relations. Both sides also expressed their pleasure with the success of the visit, the good level of relations between the border provinces of the Kurdistan Region and Iran, and all the agreements and understandings between them, and reiterated their support for further promoting joint cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Finally, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Erbil and the Erbil Governorate administration for the relationship, cooperation, coordination, and facilities offered to his country's consulate over the past years.
