Erbil Governor's Message on the Occasion of the Blessed Eid al-Adha
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
On the occasion of the advent of the blessed Eid al-Adha, we extend our congratulations to the Muslims of the world and Kurdistan in general, and to Erbil, the capital, in particular, as well as to the heroic Peshmerga and the esteemed families of the martyrs. May Almighty God accept the Hajj of all pilgrims, and may they return in health and safety to their homeland and be reunited with their families and loved ones.
Regrettably, on this Eid, instead of offering congratulations, Baghdad persists in its hostility towards the Kurdistan Region and its oppression and injustice against the people of Kurdistan. The decision to withhold and not send employee salaries – which is their rightful due – under any pretext by Baghdad, constitutes a grave crime against our people and is contrary to the Constitution and the rulings of the Federal Supreme Court. We vehemently reject, in all forms, the punishment of the people of the Kurdistan Region, the cutting of the sustenance of salary earners, and the dampening of their spirits on this sacred Eid.
Omed Khoshnaw
Governor of Erbil
