In Erbil... A Conference on Combating Human Trafficking Was Held
Today, Sunday, December 14, 2025, with the presence of Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, Yann Braem, Consul General of France in Erbil, Directors General of Education, Health, and Endowments of Erbil, representatives of international organizations, government officials, and human rights activists, the SEED organization, with the support of the French government and in coordination with the Kurdistan Region's Office for Combating Organized Crime, organized a conference titled "Strengthening Coordination Among Stakeholders to Combat Human Trafficking" in Erbil.
The conference highlighted the importance of coordination between local authorities, non-governmental organizations, and international partners to combat this crime. Emphasis was placed on supporting the provision of safe shelters for trafficking victims and those at risk, as well as offering comprehensive services, taking into account psychological trauma, to strengthen protection and improve livelihoods, and better coordination among relevant government bodies to ensure a unified response that protects victims' rights.
In a speech, the Governor of Erbil condemned human trafficking as a crime against humanity. He stressed that the Kurdistan Regional Government has put all its efforts with its international partners to combat human trafficking, defeat this crime, and protect members of society.
He also commended the supervisors and organizers of the conference and expressed hope that the outcomes of the discussions, topics, and research presented at the conference would lead to greater coordination between government agencies and organizations, and further support and backing for preventing and combating human trafficking and organized crimes, and creating a peaceful society.
