Congratulatory Message from the Governor of Erbil on the Occasion of the Assyrian-Babylonian New Year (Akitu)

On the occasion of the return of Akitu and the Babylonian-Assyrian New Year, we extend our congratulations to our Chaldean, Syriac, and Assyrian brothers and sisters in Erbil the capital in particular, and throughout the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the world in general.

This historic festival is an important opportunity to reiterate the message of peace and deepen the spirit of harmony and peaceful coexistence among all religious and ethnic components.

On this occasion, as Erbil Governorate, we emphasize the promotion and further strengthening of the culture of peaceful coexistence among all religious and ethnic components in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, which has always been, throughout history, a beautiful example of harmony in the region.

Once again, Happy Akitu, and we wish everyone a year full of joy and peace.

Omed Khoshnaw
