Erbil Governor and Turkish Consul Discuss Developing Relations and Regional Situation

Today, Thursday, April 9, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received Erman Topçu, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Erbil, at the Governorate Diwan.
 

During the meeting, the latest political developments in the region in general and the development of bilateral relations between the two sides were discussed. The Turkish Consul in Erbil expressed his condolences and sympathy for the martyrs of the recent unjust bombings on the capital Erbil, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured and the return of peace and tranquility to the region.
 

For his part, the Governor of Erbil thanked the Republic of Turkey and its consulate in Erbil for their solidarity and sympathy.

In another part of the meeting, which focused on the new visa application mechanism, the Turkish Consul provided clarification and assured that the changes were only at the level of the implementing company, and the procedures remained unchanged, with no alterations made to visa issuance.

Finally, both sides emphasized developing bilateral relations and greater coordination to establish stability and serve citizens.
