Duhok and Erbil at Diyarbakir Forum: "Kurdistan Region is a High Example of Coexistence and Sheltering Migrants"
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, within the framework of the "Social Peace and Freedom Forum" activities in Diyarbakir (Amed), a special meeting was organized for Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, and Dr. Ali Tatar, Governor of Duhok, by the Center for Security and Humanities at the American University of Kurdistan in Duhok.
The meeting focused on the issue of migration and migrants in the Kurdistan Region. In part of the meeting, both governors highlighted the continuous efforts of the Kurdistan Regional Government in accommodating displaced persons and refugees and providing for their needs.
They also stated that the Kurdistan Region has always been a peaceful center for the coexistence of all diverse religious and ethnic components, with assistance provided to those affected without discrimination.
The Governors of Erbil and Duhok emphasized the importance of international cooperation to support the humanitarian aspect in the Region, with the aim of continuing to provide essential services to migrants and maintaining social stability.
