Erbil: Major Art and Cultural Projects Launched Under Prime Minister’s Directive

Under the directive and recommendation of His Excellency Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), official steps have commenced for the implementation of two major strategic projects in the cultural sector in Erbil. Today, Monday, July 13, 2026, Shaban Chali, Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, alongside Sasan Auni, Minister of Municipalities and Tourism, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw, and Deputy Minister of Culture Aryan Salahaddin, visited the project sites within Sami Abdulrahman Park to personally oversee the stages of work.

The first project involves the construction of the largest art gallery in the region, with a budget of 3,055,622,000 Iraqi Dinars funded by the Erbil Governorate. It is intended to become an international hub for showcasing the creative works of artists. The second project is the establishment of a modern museum dedicated to the Anfal Genocide.

This project has already reached its final stages. Serving as a cultural, humanitarian, and historical landmark, the museum will provide living evidence of the atrocities committed against our people and preserve the memory of the victims for future generations. Both projects are being constructed within Sami Abdulrahman Park.

Following their inspection of the sites, the officials emphasized the importance of completing both projects as scheduled, ensuring the highest standards of quality and timely delivery.
