Erbil Governor receives Finnish Ambassador to Iraq

On Monday, November 14, 2022. The Governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, received the Finnish Ambassador to Iraq, Matti Lassila, and his accompanying delegation. In the meeting, they discussed the general situation in Iraq and Kurdistan, as well as ways to strengthen relations between the Kurdistan Region and Finland. The Governor of Erbil thanked Finland for its support to the Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga forces in 2015 within the framework of the international coalition against ISIS.

Khoshnaw stressed the desire of Kurdistan and Erbil to expand and strengthen relations with Finland, especially in the field of investment. During the meeting, the Finnish ambassador stressed that his country considers importantly its relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and hopes to develop in all fields. He affirmed that his country, within the framework of the international coalition, will continue to provide support and assistance to the Kurdistan Region.
