The Governor of Erbil visits the Justice and Development (AK) Party in Diyarbakır

On Thursday, May 2, 2024, Governor Omed Khoshnaw of Erbil and his accompanying delegation visited the Justice and Development AK Party branch in Diyarbakir. They were welcomed by Mehmet Raşit, the head of the Justice and Development Party branch in the city.
 

During the meeting, Governor Khoshnaw emphasized the importance of enhancing and advancing bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey. He mentioned the recent visit of the Turkish President to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, highlighting the successful and significant meetings held with President Masoud Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, and the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
 

The Governor of Erbil also highlighted the importance of the relations between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region, particularly in terms of trade. He emphasized that the Kurdistan Region, particularly in the capital Erbil, has provided favorable opportunities for investment and reconstruction.
 

In another aspect of the meeting, discussing the Erbil delegation's visit to Diyarbakir and their engagements with political parties, Governor Khoshnaw remarked, "During our discussions with the political parties, we emphasized the importance of restarting the peace process as the sole path to resolving issues.
 

Our impression was that all parties share this aspiration." He reiterated the Kurdistan Region's hope for the revival of the peace process in Turkey, a stance consistently emphasized by President Barzani. Furthermore, Governor Khoshnaw emphasized that the Kurdistan Regional Government has consistently served as a stabilizing force and a contributor to finding solutions.
 

The head of the Diyarbakir branch of the Turkish Justice and Development Party expressed gratitude to the Kurdistan Region for warmly receiving the Turkish President. He mentioned that President Erdogan felt very comfortable and pleased during his visit to the Kurdistan Region.
He expressed optimism that the relations between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region would continue to advance across all levels.
