District of Mergasor
The District of Mergasor lies in the far North of the Governorate of Erbil at the Iraq-Iran-Turkey triangle. It is composed of five Sub-Districts: Barzan, Goratu, Ble, Piran, and Shirwan Mezn, and 67 villages. It is a rugged mountainous region, Shireen, Piran, Qalander, and Bradost being the most famous mountains in the District.

The territory is crossed by three rivers: The Greater Zab, Chamah, and Balindah. It is summer are relatively hot, with almost dry weather, and the winter are very cold with heavy rains, the heaviest in the District. In spring and autumn, the weather is mild and pure.
