 Erbil: Announcement of the National Referral Mechanism to Support Migrants

On Thursday, December 8, 2022. On Erbil Citadel, under the supervision and presence of Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, Safeen Dizayee, Head of Foreign Relations, Hemin Qadir, Deputy Governor and Head of IOM, Dr. Ali Rashid, Chairman of Erbil Provincial Council, Hussein Kalari, Director General of EJCC in the Ministry of Interior, Srwa Rasul, Director of Erbil Crisis Coordination Center and representative of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior. For the first time in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, a national referral mechanism to support returned migrants was announced through the EJCC, with the assistance of the International Organization for Migration and financial support from the European Union.

In a speech, the governor stressed that Erbil will always be a warm embrace for those citizens who have gone abroad for whatever reason and are now returning to their homeland. Therefore, this system has been used to help them, he stressed that as the governor of Erbil will support the logistics of our citizens to serve the country together.

It is worth mentioning that the national referral mechanism is a system for Referral of returnees for necessary integration services, after their return to the Kurdistan Region, the referral system is free and confidential and anyone who has returned from abroad can access it by contacting or visiting the Joint Crisis Coordination Center in Erbil Governor's Office.
