Erbil Governor: Kurdistan Region has had good relations with Turkey and all their trade and diplomatic envoys in Iraq

Turkish Consul General in Erbil: “Turkey attaches great importance to trade, investment and cultural relations with Erbil”.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2023. In the governor's office, Erbil Governor, Omed Khoshnaw received Mehmet Mevlut Yakut, Consul General of Turkey in Erbil, Deputy Consul General and Commercial staff of the Turkish Consulate in Erbil.

In the meeting, the Governor congratulated the new consul and staff on their appointment and stressed that the Kurdistan Region has been in good relations with Turkey and all their trade and diplomatic envoys in Iraq over the past few years.
The governor of Erbil stressed that the relations with the new staff of the Turkish consulate in Erbil will certainly improve and we will strengthen the level of diplomacy, trade and investment together.

For his part, Mehmet Mevlut Yakut thanked the governor for providing this opportunity and stressed on strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region in general and Erbil in particular.

They also elaborated on their work agenda, which focuses on trade, investment and cultural relations.

In another topic of the meeting, they discussed the opening of a new gateway between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey and connecting the Kurdistan Region to Europe by rail. Both sides agreed that the issue had made great progress.

The governor also stressed that Turkish companies have taken the lead in the field of trade and investment compared to other companies in the world and do their job.
In the end, Mehmet Mevlut Yakut, Consul General of Turkey in Erbil, thanked the governor for always helping and facilitating the work and opening the knots and performing the duties.
