Erbil... a workshop on the effects of earthquakes on buildings was presented

In the presence of the Minister of Municipalities and Tourism of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Sasan Awni, the Governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, chairman of the Erbil Provincial Council, Ali Rashid Khoshnaw, academics, engineers and specialists, a workshop was held today, Monday, February 20, 2023 in Erbil, on the issue of earthquakes and their effects on buildings, and how to prevent damage caused by natural disasters.

The Minister of Municipalities and Tourism in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Sasan Awni, told reporters, "A number of Kurdistan university professors presented research on the causes, how to occur and the effects of earthquakes, and how to design and implement housing units and private and public buildings in the future, during which they provided instructions and directions to the municipalities in this regard."

He added, "After the natural disaster that occurred in neighboring countries, we decided to reassess and review the details and conditions for building buildings in the Kurdistan Region, and to listen to the opinions and viewpoints of specialists and geological experts to protect the cities of the region from the damages of natural disasters and get out of them with minimal damage."

Pointing out that the instructions and directives that were presented during the workshop benefit the engineers and specialists who evaluate construction operations to find out the best designs and their use and application during their future work.
