Today Saturday, March 11, 2023, on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Erbil's liberation and within the context of the 13th Freedom and Newroz Festival, a ceremony was held in the presence of the proud families of martyrs and martyr Khaja Bawa, as well as a significant number of citizens and officials.

The 32nd anniversary of the uprising was commemorated by removing the curtain from the statue of martyr Khaja Bawa and the wall of uprising martyrs. In his speech, Erbil's governor referred to the role and heroism of martyr Khaja Bawa on the day of Erbil's mass uprising, emphasizing that this heroic woman became a symbol of Erbil's and even Kurdistan's uprising.

Following that, various artistic activities were presented, and the ceremony concluded. It is worth mentioning that Khaja Bawa, who had gotten her courage from her revolutionary father and relatives, became the leader of the Erbil uprising on March 11, 1991, and used her slogans to rally the masses against the regime.

Her statue was unveiled near the former security department, which now became the Council of Ministers.
