Erbil... Commemorates the 35th anniversary of the Halabja chemical weapons attack

On the sound of warning sirens and the cessation of movement, the city of Erbil commemorated today, Thursday, the 35th anniversary of the defunct regime's bombing of the city of Halabja with chemical weapons in the spring of 1988, resulting in the death of nearly 5,000 residents and the injury of thousands more.
In the presence of Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw, a street theater performance and five minutes of silence were held in front of Shanadar Park to commemorate the Halabja martyrs.
The Deputies of the governor, Central Mayor, directors of all Erbil offices and administrative units, as well as a large number of other party and government officials and members of the public, attended the ceremony.
