Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Arrives in Erbil, Capital of Kurdistan Regional Government

On Monday night, April 22, 2024, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Erbil, where he was welcomed by the President and Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

While in Erbil, the Turkish President will hold discussions with President Barzani, Kurdistan Regional Government President Nechirvan Barzani, and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani to address the relations between Erbil and Ankara.
 

Erdogan's visit will mark the first time in history that a Turkish president visits the Kurdistan Region. Nonetheless, 13 years ago, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, serving as Turkey's Prime Minister at the time, visited Erbil and participated alongside President Barzani in the inauguration of Erbil International Airport.
