JICA will implement the "Heavy Water Recycling Project" and address drainage issues in Erbil

Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw received a high-level delegation from JICA and a government delegation from Saitama province on Thursday, September 14, 2023, in the presence of Massoud Karash, Deputy Governor of Erbil.
 

They discussed the "Erbil Heavy Water Recycling Project" and solving Erbil's sewage problems at the beginning of the meeting, which is being implemented at a cost of (300 million dollars) by the Japanese agency JICA to solve Erbil's sewage problems.
 

The project is one of the Kurdistan Regional Government's strategic and important projects, and the first phase will be carried out with a length of 75 kilometers, and the water wasted in households will be treated again, reused for parks and gardens, and modern sewers will be built, which will be of great benefit to the citizens and Erbil in general.

In this regard, the governor of Erbil, on behalf of himself and Sasan Awni, Minister of Municipalities, thanked the Japanese government and JICA for previous and ongoing assistance to the Kurdistan Regional Government.

 

We appreciate service projects; in the past, they have completed various service projects, including the Erbil Heavy Water Recycling Project and sewage problems. "Within the framework of the Kurdistan Regional Government's policy, we want to further develop coordination and cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Japan," he added. "We want to coordinate with each other and take advantage of the ability of Japanese experts to implement more service projects and provide more opportunities for Japanese companies to work in the Kurdistan Region, and further develop relations between our two countries."
 

Finally, the visiting delegation expressed their delight in visiting the Kurdistan Region and Erbil, thanked the Governor of Erbil, and expressed their admiration for the establishment of peace and security, as well as Erbil's progress and development.
