In Erbil… World Earth Hour Day celebrated

On the evening of Saturday, March 23, 2024, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, alongside Abdulrahman Sadiq, the head of the Kurdistan Region's Environmental Protection and Improvement Board, the Mayor of Erbil Central, Directors General of Health and Agriculture, and various other administrative officials, gathered to promote environmental awareness in Kurdistan, especially in Erbil. The Aviary Environmental Awareness Organization led the celebration of World Earth Hour Day, during which electric lights were switched off, and candles were lit for a brief period to symbolize the commitment to environmental consciousness.

Earth Hour, a global event with participation from more than 150 countries, is held yearly on the last Saturday of March after 8:00 pm local time. Its primary aim is to shed light on the environmental issues resulting from insufficient awareness within societies.
These issues include excessive electricity usage, growing urban vehicle populations, pollution of public spaces, heightened noise levels, air pollution, and a lack of environmental awareness.
