The governor of Erbil meets with the co-mayors of Diyarbakir

On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, Governor Omed Khoshnaw of Erbil, along with his accompanying delegation, paid a visit to the Diyarbakir Mayor’s Office. They were greeted by the co-mayors of Diyarbakir, Sarah Bucak and Dogan Hatun, as well as other members of the city’s municipal council.
 

In the meeting, Governor Khoshnaw extended congratulations to the mayors of Diyarbakir and other municipalities for their success in the recent municipal elections, highlighting that it reflected the genuine will of the Turkish people. He conveyed his best wishes for their success in fulfilling their duties.
 

In a different part of the meeting, Governor Khoshnaw expressed optimism about the continued development of the city of Amed, especially following the assumption of duties by the two recently elected joint presidents. He hoped for further progress and growth in the city's development trajectory.
 

He stated, "Amed is Erbil and Erbil is Amed." We aspire for Kurdistan to remain on a path of continual development and sustained progress, fostering the enhancement of social, commercial, diplomatic, and tourism relations that strengthen our bonds of brotherhood and unity." He then formally invited them to visit Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, which the co-mayors graciously accepted.
 

The Governor of Erbil reiterated the Kurdistan Regional Government's backing for any efforts aimed at revitalizing the peace process. He emphasized that President Masoud Barzani played a crucial role in initiating and achieving success in this endeavor. He reaffirmed the region's ongoing desire to restart the peace process, aiming to alleviate the suffering of its people.
 

The mayors of Diyarbakir conveyed their delight at the visit of Governor Khoshnaw and his accompanying delegation. They underscored the significance of enhancing relations and affirmed their readiness to coordinate closely with the Governor of Erbil.
 

At the conclusion of the visit, souvenirs were exchanged between the Governor of Erbil and the mayors of Amed.
