A broad meeting was held under the supervision of the Governor of Erbil and the Governor of Qazvin
On the evening of Tuesday, April 29, 2025, under the supervision of Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, and Mohammad Nozari, Governor of Qazvin, a broad meeting was held at the Qazvin Governorate headquarters. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Foreign Relations with Iran, the Director of the Haji Omaran International Border Crossing, the Deputy Governors of Qazvin for Political Affairs, Reconstruction Affairs, and Economic Affairs, the Mayor of Qazvin Central District, Head of Municipality, the Director General of Tourism of the Governorate, and several other city officials.
The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen general relations between the two sides, enhance trade and economic activity between Erbil and Qazvin, reach agreements, sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and establish the necessary procedures, mechanisms, facilitation, and cooperation between both parties.
In the meeting, both sides emphasized advancing, improving, and strengthening trade and industrial activity across all sectors, and developing relations.
During the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of promoting, enhancing, and boosting trade and industrial movement in all sectors, as well as developing their ties.
For his part, the Governor of Erbil expressed his full readiness to advance relations and improve trade and industrial activity between the two governorates across all sectors. He also stated that Iran's relationship with the Kurdistan Region is historical, religious, and cultural, and that at all levels, the Kurdistan Region desires the advancement of these relations.
'As Erbil, the capital,' he continued, 'which today is a center of decision-making and an important economic center, our desire is to develop and grow relations with all countries, especially with the country of Iran.'
He then highlighted his meetings in Tehran with the Vice President, the Deputy Minister of Interior, and the Governor of Tehran, and provided a brief summary regarding the outcomes of his visit.
In another part of the meeting, the Governor of Erbil highlighted the visits of Iranian pilgrims to holy sites in Iraq via the Kurdistan Region.
He emphasized President Barzani's directive regarding the provision of all facilitation and services to the pilgrims.
Finally, he discussed the projects, works, development, and progress that have been achieved in Erbil, the capital, despite the injustice Baghdad inflicts upon the Kurdistan Region by cutting the budget and people's salaries.
