Message from the Governor of Erbil on the Passing of Sırrı Sureyya Onder

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Sadly, we received the news of the passing of Sırrı Sureyya Onder, a Turkish personality and politician, former co-chair of the DEM Party, Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, and member of the İmralı delegation. The deceased, in addition to being a prominent Turkish politician, was an experienced artist and writer who dedicated much of his life to the political struggle and the peaceful resolution of the Kurdish issue in Turkey.

On this sad occasion, we extend our condolences and sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues/companions. We share in their grief. We ask Almighty God to grant patience, solace, and comfort to everyone, to embrace the soul of the deceased with His mercy, and grant him entry into His vast paradise.
Indeed, we belong to God, and indeed to Him we shall return.
