On Sunday, June 7, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, as part of his official visit to the city of Van, visited the "Begiri" (Muradiye) tourist waterfall. The visit, during which he was accompanied by the president of the Presidency of the Erbil Municipality, the Director General of Erbil Tourism, the President of the Duhok Chamber of Commerce, a representative of the Barzani Charity Foundation, and a number of members of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce, aimed to closely familiarize themselves with the tourist projects in the area and exchange experiences between both sides to develop the tourism sector and attract more tourists to various areas of the Kurdistan Region and Van Province.
 

During his visit, the Governor of Erbil emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the economic, commercial, and tourism sectors.

He also noted that the Kurdistan Region possesses a favorable and rich natural environment, and that successful experiences from Turkish tourist areas could be utilized for joint development and the creation of shared tourist routes between both sides.
