The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) stands ready to help with rescue efforts

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has issued a message on the earthquake that struck Turkey and North Kurdistan this morning.

Today Monday, February 6, 2023, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani tweeted that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is ready to assist in the rescue efforts.

Masrour Barzani said: “ My thoughts are with the families of the victims and the injured whose lives have been affected by last night’s earthquake across the region.

Early Morning, Monday, February 6, 2023. After a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake ripped through Turkey and Syria followed by about 50 aftershocks, more than 2,300 people have died and rescuers are racing to pull survivors from beneath the rubble.

The first earthquake was felt in both Duhok and Erbil Governorates and some citizens left their homes for fear of a repeat of the earthquake.
