A high-ranking Iranian delegation is scheduled to meet with the Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Governor of Erbil, and the administrator of the Soran Autonomous Administration today, Sunday, August 20, 2023.

A high-ranking delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the Deputy Minister of Interior and the Governor of Urmia, paid an official visit to the Haji Omeran international border crossing to observe the ongoing preparations to receive Iranian pilgrims traveling through Kurdistan to Iraq's holy sites.

Today, Sunday, the Iranian delegation will meet with Interior Minister Reber Ahmed, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw, and Halgurd Sheikh Najib, the supervisor of the Independent Soran Administration.

The Iranian Deputy Minister of Interior and the Governor of Urmia paid a visit to the Haji Omeran border crossing to inspect the preparations for Iranian pilgrims visiting Iraq's holy sites.

In this regard, the Iranian Deputy Interior Minister thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government for the facilities and preparations made at the Haji Omeran international border crossing for Iranian pilgrims.

In 2022, over 20 million people took part in the Arbaeen, including 15 million Iraqis and 5 million foreigners from almost 80 nations, the majority of whom came from Iran.
It is worth noting that last year, based on an agreement between the Governors of Erbil and Urmia, the process of Iranian pilgrims entering the holy places in Iraq officially began for the first time from the Haji Omeran border crossing, with more than 70,000 Iranian pilgrims entering the Kurdistan Region through the Haji Omeran border crossing to visit the Holy places in Iraq, with the number expected to exceed 500,000 this year.
