The Governor of Erbil visits the Diyarbakir Commodity Exchange

On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, Governor Omed Khoshnaw of Erbil and his accompanying delegation visited the headquarters of the Diyarbakir Commodity Exchange, where they were welcomed by Engin YEŞİL, the Chairman of the Commodity Exchange, and Ahmet Ay, the Chairman of the Diyarbakir Commodity Exchange Assembly.
 

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Diyarbakir Commodity Exchange and the Chairman of the Diyarbakır Commodity Exchange Assembly provided an overview of the organization's operations, activities, establishment history, work program, and plans, particularly focusing on agriculture and livestock sectors.

The Governor of Erbil emphasized the ongoing efforts to advance and strengthen trade and economic ties, emphasizing the importance of enhancing them. He stated, "Our presence at the Mesopotamia Tourism and Agriculture Exhibition in the cherished city of Diyarbakir is aimed at fostering and expanding our relations across all sectors. To this end, we conducted several significant meetings on the sidelines of the exhibition."

He further stated, "Agriculture, grains, and livestock are among the key priorities of the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government, with the Prime Minister personally emphasizing their importance."

During the meeting, Governor Khoshnaw highlighted the factors and challenges contributing to the decline of the agricultural sector in the Kurdistan Region, such as the displacement of its population during the previous regime's era. He underscored ongoing threats to agriculture and livestock, including climate change, which he emphasized as not only affecting the Kurdistan Region but also posing a global threat to countries within the region and beyond.
 

At the conclusion of the visit, souvenirs were exchanged between the Governor of Erbil, the President of the Diyarbakir Commodity Exchange, and the Commodity Exchange Assembly Chairman.
