Commission: Elections will be held if the parliament decides on two issues

Karwan Jalal, Director General of the Independent High Electoral Commission said that the parliament should take two steps to hold elections on time. These include reactivating the commission and amending the electoral law. Then we will make preparations within six months and the elections will be held on schedule.

Karwan Jalal Said: “If the parliament starts resolving the issues necessary to prepare for the elections, we can hold the elections on time, which is required to do the work during that time because we need six months to complete our preparations, because the Kurdistan parliament has extended its term for a year, so it is important that the parliament takes these two steps during this period, so that the elections can be held on time”.

Yesterday, during a number of statements, the Kurdistan Regional Government Presidency, the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the opposition parties reaffirmed the need to hold the elections on time.
