The birthday of Jesus Christ was celebrated in Ankawa

On Saturday, December 24, 2022. In the presence of Dr. Pshtiwan Sadiq, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, Ano Jawhar, Minister of Transport and Communication, Nawzad Hadi, Political Bureau Member of Party Democratic Kurdistan, Bland Ismail, Head of the Second Branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Rami Nuri, Ankawa District Mayor and a number of other officials, celebrated the birthday of the Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) in Ankawa.

Christians in the Kurdistan Region celebrate Christmas in church every year and pray for a better year. The next day, they visit each other for Christmas and prepare special meals.There are about 300,000 Christians of Armenian, Chaldean, Syriac and Assyrian ethnicities in the Kurdistan Region. Except for Ankawa, the center of Kurdistan's Christians, most of the Christians live in Shaqlawa, Koya, Duhok and Zakho, and have about 300 churches.
