Barzani National Memorial inaugurated

Under the supervision of President Masoud Barzani and in the presence of dozens of political figures from the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, as well as international political and diplomatic figures, the opening ceremony of Barzani's National Memorial continues in the Barzan region.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs' souls, followed by the Iraqi and Kurdish national anthems, passages from the Holy Quran, and the presentation of a report on the building and memorial.

A documentary video about the life of Kurdish leader Malla Mustafa Barzani was screened to introduce his march and life, in which he addressed the most important critical and struggle events in the life of the immortal Kurdish leader.

President Masoud Barzani, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, Regional Government President Masrour Barzani, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid and Iraq’s Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shia al-Sudani attended the ceremony, as did diplomatic delegations from the UK, US, European, and Arab countries, as well as the United Nations envoy to Iraq.

In a speech delivered on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the opening ceremony of the Barzani National Memorial in the Barzan region, President Masoud Barzani said, "I appeal to all Kurdish parties to open a new page and hold an expanded meeting before the eighteenth of this month to discuss all problems and address them; before this meeting, I call on the political bureaus, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, to hold a meeting to remove the existing ambiguity.”

Regarding relations between Erbil and Baghdad, President Barzani stated, "We see a strong will and sincere intention, and from here I want to thank brother Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, the Iraqi Prime Minister, for his efforts to implement the political agreement with all boldness, and from here I say to him that we support you with all our might.", it demonstrated to us that there would be no outstanding problems without solutions if there is a real aim and a strong will, and we hope that this positive connection between Erbil and Baghdad will continue in order to resolve any existing concerns between the two parties.
