In Erbil... The first phase of an important artificial groundwater remediation project has been completed

The first phase of the pilot project to artificially treat groundwater "Pilot-MAR" was implemented at a cost of $132,000, in collaboration with Erbil Governorate and UNICEF, and under the direction of Erbil's Irrigation and Groundwater Directorate. The project consists of several deep and shallow wells transfer surface water during flooding to ponds and underground reservoirs for industrial treatment.

A monitoring well was dug next to each group of treatment wells, with measuring instruments to record changes in groundwater level, in order to view the work's results scientifically.

In the coming days, the second phase of the project will commence.
