Chairman of the Iraqi Parliamentary Committee: Peshraw Dizayee's house was a residential, not a Mossad base
Abbas Al-Zamli, head of the Iraqi parliamentary committee to investigate the Iranian bombing of Erbil, said that the house targeted by the Revolutionary Guard missiles is “a residential building, not a Mossad base.”
On Sunday, January 21, 2024, Kurdistan Regional Government Interior Minister Rebar Ahmad chaired a special meeting in the presence of Shakhawan Abdullah, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament and Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw, with the special committee of the Iraqi parliament, which consisted of a number of members of the two committees of security, defense and foreign relations of the Iraqi parliament, headed by Abbas Al- Zamli, to investigate the attack by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards on the capital Erbil last week.
After the meeting, Abbas Zamli, the head of the committee, confirmed in a press conference that the house of Peshraw Dizayee was targeted by several missiles that we believe are ballistic missiles and caused serious damage to the place. "The house was a residential building and there is no indication that it was a mossad base," he said.
He went on: "Iranian missile attacks on the Kurdistan Region are illegitimate and violate Iraqi sovereignty. If there was a spy base for any country in the Kurdistan Region, Iran could have settled the situation through dialogue between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq rather than striking civilians with missiles."
Shakhawan Abdullah, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, said: "We, as the Iraqi parliament, have called on the federal government to take practical steps to prevent the continuous attacks on the Kurdistan Region and to put an end to the attacks targeting civilians," He highlighted the expectation for the Iraqi parliament and government to go beyond condemning the attacks, urging them to take concrete international steps to prevent the repetition of such incidents, as awaited by both Iraqi and Kurdistan communities.
He clarified, stating, "Henceforth, the Iraqi people demand more than just condemnation and denunciation regarding Iranian attacks on the Kurdistan Region. It is imperative to take tangible and practical measures in response."
The Kurdistan Region's Minister of Interior, Reber Ahmed, affirmed, "We supplied them with all necessary information," highlighting that the joint committee between Iraq and Iran was unaware of the bombing in Erbil.
He further stated, "Iraqi Parliament committees are certain that the attack aimed at civilian-populated areas, and the measures implemented by the federal government are both legitimate and legal."
