President Barzani Meets with Religious Scholars and Religious Components of Kurdistan
Today, Saturday, October 18, in the presence of His Excellency "President Barzani," and with the participation of esteemed scholars of the sacred religion of Islam and other religious components of the Kurdistan Region, a broad meeting was held.
During a speech, His Excellency "the President" welcomed everyone and stated, "The culture of coexistence has been inherited from our forefathers. We are all human beings and servants of God. Seeing you together shows the world the most beautiful example of diversity. This culture has greatly served Kurdistan and its history. Terrorism made no distinction between religions, so we should not create differences among ourselves. We hope this culture continues and becomes more entrenched. Many plans are made against this region. Throughout history, this has been the policy of Iraqi authorities. Therefore, only through unity and togetherness can we stand against all challenges, and this is for the benefit and future of the people of Kurdistan. Enemies want to destroy the authentic Kurdish culture in every way possible and infiltrate the original Kurdish customs and culture through many different means, but with God's help and your unity, dear ones, we will eliminate these alien steps."
Regarding the internal situation, President Barzani stated, "We hope the Kurdistan government will be formed before the Iraqi parliamentary elections, and serious work is being done for that." Regarding the moderate discourse, he said, "It is important for esteemed scholars to play a greater role in fostering a sense of belonging to the land and love for the homeland, as well as confronting drug abuse, which is a scourge of our time and works to destroy the fabric of our youth. Every step taken for this purpose is based on the foundations, beliefs, and work of all religions."
"Everyone is free to vote, but it is important to consider the services provided to the cities of Kurdistan, along with peace and security without discrimination. Kurdistan will make every effort to be with those who are familiar with the rights of the people of Kurdistan and implement them in the future."
President Barzani continued in his speech, "I wholeheartedly thank the people of Kurdistan for their resilience against the oppression of cutting off the livelihoods of the people of Kurdistan. Despite all observations, we participated in the elections for the benefit of Kurdistan."
During the meeting, Dr. Pshtiwan Sadiq, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, welcomed His Excellency President Barzani, saying, "The fundamental goal of religion is a message of forgiveness, peace, and equality. Religion has made society one with faith and togetherness."
