The Governor of Erbil receives the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Iraq
Today, Monday, May 20, 2024, the Governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, received at the governorate’s office the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Iraq, Tariq Abdullah Al-Faraj, and the Kuwaiti Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, Othman Daoud, and their accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil highlighted the shared suffering of the Kurdish people and the people of Kuwait under the former Baathist regime. He characterized the relationship between the Kurdish people and Kuwait's leadership as historic, significant, and amicable.
Both sides also emphasized the importance of strengthening and developing their bilateral relations across various fields.
The Governor of Erbil called for the signing of several joint agreements between businessmen and chambers of commerce from both sides, as well as the establishment of direct flights between Erbil and Kuwait. In this context, the Kuwaiti Ambassador announced that direct flights between Erbil and Kuwait would soon be launched.
During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil commended the State of Kuwait for its efforts and coordination with the Erbil Governorate and the Barzani Charity Foundation in delivering humanitarian aid to displacement camps, as well as in building schools and other humanitarian institutions.
Regarding investment and coordination, the Kuwaiti ambassador emphasized the need to work together to enhance investment and intensify efforts to foster coordination between businessmen and chambers of commerce in Erbil and Kuwait.
