Meetings of the Governor of Erbil on the sidelines of the 44th International Conference of Francophone Cities

On Friday, May 24, 2024, Governor Omed Khoshnaw of Erbil met with governors and mayors from Francophone countries on the sidelines of the 44th International Conference of Francophone Cities in Lausanne, Switzerland.
 

The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing coordination between the Kurdistan Region and Francophone countries. Discussions included the further development of diplomatic, economic, tourism, artistic, and cultural ties.

Regarding trade exchange and enhancement, the Governor of Erbil noted that the Kurdistan Region offers an excellent environment for work and investment. He highlighted that numerous foreign investors and companies are already operating in the region.

The Governor of Erbil expressed his hope for improved commercial and industrial relations with French-speaking countries in the near future.

The annual conference of the International Association of French-speaking Governors and Mayors (Francophone) takes place in one of the organization’s member states. This year, it was held in Lausanne, Switzerland, with 500 governors and mayors from 50 different countries participating. The conference, titled "International Cooperation and Local Authorities as a Center for Innovation," and the Governor of Erbil was invited as a member of the conference.
