The Governor of Erbil receives a delegation from the United Arab Emirates
On Sunday, May 26, 2024, the Governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, received at the governorate’s office, in the presence of Deputy Governor Masoud Karash, an Emirati delegation specialized in antiquities affairs, which included Engineer Rashad Muhammad Bukhash, President of the Architectural Heritage Association in the United Arab Emirates, and Ahmed Al-Haram, Vice President of the Association.
During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil welcomed the Emirati delegation and emphasized the importance of coordination and collaboration in developing historical, archaeological, and heritage sites in Erbil.
The Governor of Erbil commended the United Arab Emirates for its advancements in heritage and antiquities. He noted that Prime Minister Masrour Barzani consistently stresses the importance of engaging with Emirati experts and specialists to focus on cultural and archaeological monuments.
The Emirati delegation expressed their gratitude to the Governor of Erbil for the warm welcome. They noted that Erbil houses several significant archaeological and world heritage sites and pledged to work with the Kurdistan Regional Government to develop these sites and provide the necessary assistance.
They also discussed the importance of the Erbil Citadel, Al-Qaysariya Market, and various other archaeological and heritage sites in Erbil. They emphasized that, although these sites are geographically located in Kurdistan and Erbil, they are part of humanity's heritage and must be restored and given full attention to attract tourists from around the world.
