Signing of a sister city agreement between Ankawa and Sterling Heights
On Friday, September 13, 2024, with the support and backing of His Excellency Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, in a ceremony attended by Tanya Aziz, Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Washington, Rami Nouri Odish, Mayor of Ankawa District, the Mayor of Sterling Heights, and a number of other officials from that city, a sister city agreement was signed between Ankawa District and the city of Sterling Heights in the state of Michigan, USA.
It is worth mentioning that the signing of this agreement, in addition to strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and the United States of America and promoting coordination between both sides, will have great importance in the sectors of training for employees of the Kurdistan Regional Government institutions in that country and exchanging students between universities on both sides to prepare competent leaders, as well as several other benefits for the advancement of society.
