Erbil... The foundation stone for the construction of an (Educational Complex in Daratoo) and a (Teacher Training Center in Hawleri Nwe), along with the (renovation of 10 schools and the Zaituna Library), was laid at a cost of ($12 million)
On Sunday, September 28, 2025, the foundation stone was laid for several educational projects. The $12 million investment, funded by the KOICA Agency budget and supervised by the KRG Ministry of Education in coordination with the Department of Foreign Relations, includes an Educational Complex in the Daratoo Sub-district, a Teacher Training Center in Hawleri Nwe, the renovation of 10 schools in Erbil, and the renovation of the Zaituna Library.
The ceremony was attended by Alan Hama Saeed, Minister of Education; Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil; Safeen Dizayee, Head of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations; Seong Cheol Lim, Consul General of South Korea in Erbil; Jun Young Jong, Head of the KOICA Agency in Erbil; and various Directors General and government officials.
During the ceremony, multiple speakers expressed pleasure at the commencement of these projects in Erbil Governorate. They extended thanks and appreciation to the KOICA Agency, the Consul General of South Korea, and the agency head in Erbil, highly valuing KOICA's work, activities, and cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government on several important projects over the years.
The Governor of Erbil welcomed the initiative and expressed hope that the cooperation and coordination between the KOICA Agency and the Kurdistan Regional Government would be further expanded. He encouraged the agency to develop more projects within Erbil to benefit from KOICA's successful and rich experience in reconstruction, development, and innovation.
KOICA is a South Korean government agency that implements technical assistance and cooperation programs, including charitable aid agendas. Since it began operating in 2004, the agency has executed numerous strategic projects, and thousands of KRG employees have benefited from its training courses in Korea.
