Zagros Mountain Trail Unveiling Ceremony Held

On Sunday evening, October 12, with the presence of Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil; Amal Jalal, Head of the General Board of Tourism; Aryan Salahuddin, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture; Jan Brem, Consul General of France in Erbil; and a number of other representatives of organizations and university professors, the Zagros Mountain Trail was unveiled in a ceremony organized by the Kurdistan Trails Organization for Development.

At the ceremony, the Governor of Erbil, in a speech on behalf of the Kurdistan Regional Government and Erbil Governorate, commended the organization for its work and wished them success, also noting that the office of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government had assisted them in their efforts.

He reiterated the support of the Kurdistan Regional Government and Erbil Governorate for the success of their work and stated that their project and work significantly contribute to the development and advancement of the tourism sector.

He added that the Zagros mountain range and the name Zagros are a source of appreciation in the memory of the Kurdish people, representing a beloved story and a symbol of the survival of the people of Kurdistan and its components.
 

It is worth noting that the Zagros Mountain Trail, a 215-kilometer path in the Kurdistan Region, starts from Shush village in Akre and extends to the foothills of Mount Halgurd. It passes through 36 villages and five towns, including Akre, Dinarta, Soran, Rawanduz, and Choman, making it the longest trail in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
