Governor of Erbil Receives New Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Erbil
This morning, Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received Ambassador (Ziad Batarseh), the new Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Erbil, at the Governorate Diwan.
The Governor of Erbil, while warmly welcoming him, congratulated Ambassador (Ziad Batarseh) on his assumption of duty as the new Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Erbil, wished him success, and expressed the readiness of Erbil Governorate for any cooperation. He also spoke about Jordan's diplomatic role in the region and emphasized the development and strengthening of their relations.
As Governor of Erbil, he expressed his readiness for any cooperation and coordination, while also referring to the historical relationship between the Kurdish leadership, President Barzani himself, and the Hashemite Royal Family, from which perspective the Kurdistan Region and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan are in very good relations and friendship today.
For his part, Ziad Batarseh, the Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Erbil, thanked the Governor of Erbil for the warm welcome and reiterated the strengthening of relations and coordination between Erbil Governorate and the Jordanian Consulate in Erbil. He also referred to the process of expansion and development of the capital Erbil, which has witnessed a qualitative civil and urban advancement and has become an example of progress in the entire region.
During the meeting, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, and Ziad Batarseh, Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, exchanged views on expanding economic, tourism, and health relations in a way that would better serve the citizens of the Kurdistan Region and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
At the end of the meeting, both sides hoped that the level of their relations would take more advanced steps from now on and that the channel of their visits would continue on the basis of providing more services.
