Erbil... A Performance by Folk Arts Troupes Was Held

Today, Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the presence of Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, and Zana Malakhalid, Head of Branch 2, an artistic ceremony featuring performances by the "Folk Arts Troupes" took place at the Roshinbiri Hall in Erbil, the capital. Awards of appreciation were presented to a number of artists.
During the ceremony, which was attended by the Director General of Culture, and a number of other government and party officials, artists, intellectuals, and culture enthusiasts, several authentic dance and folk music performances were presented by the Erbil Folk Troupe, the Syriac Folk Troupe, and the Rojhelat (Western) Folk Troupe.
Afterwards, awards of appreciation were presented to the folk troupes and several experienced artists in the field who have served Kurdish folk art for years. On the sidelines of the performance, the Governor of Erbil commended the supervisors and all members of the Folk Arts Troupes for the high and unique artistic level they presented in their performances.
 

He also reiterated Erbil Governorate's support and cooperation for the troupes and their artistic endeavors, wishing them success and continuity in further serving authentic Kurdish culture. He noted that these troupes are a national and cultural treasure and are of special interest to the Erbil city administration.
 

It is worth mentioning that these troupes are not just folk dance groups; they represent Kurdistan's cultural and historical identity. They have participated in dozens of international festivals in various countries, won several awards of appreciation, and have become a school for nurturing hundreds of artists in music, Kurdish costume design, and performance
