The Governor of Erbil receives the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Today, Monday, April 14, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, received Faramarz Asadi, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil, at the Governorate Office.
 

During the meeting, which was attended by Shaker Hussein, the official responsible for relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran, both sides emphasized the importance of developing relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kurdistan Region. The Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran formally invited the Governor of Erbil to participate in the opening of the "Iran Expo 2025" exhibition, which is scheduled to be held on the 28th of this month in Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with the participation of more than 100 countries and 800 different international companies. For his part, the Governor of Erbil thanked the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran and expressed his pleasure at the formal invitation.
 

In another part of the meeting, after discussing the preparations for the expanded meeting of the governors of (Erbil, West Azerbaijan, Sulaymaniyah, Sanandaj/Kurdistan Province, Duhok, Kermanshah), which will be held on May 20, 2025, in the city of Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, the two sides agreed on the details of the visit of the Kurdistan Region delegation and how the meetings will be conducted. They also emphasized strengthening the relations between the provinces and boosting the trade and economic movement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kurdistan Region.
 

Finally, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran thanked the Governor of Erbil and the administration of Erbil Governorate for the relationship, coordination, cooperation, and facilitations that have been provided to their country's consulate over the past years.
