Erbil Governor and Turkish Consul General Express Hope for Peace in the Region and Dialogue to Prevail

Today, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, visited the Turkish Consulate General in Erbil and was welcomed by Arman Topcu, the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Erbil. During the meeting, Arman Topcu thanked the Governor of Erbil for his visit and emphasized the importance of the Republic of Turkey's relations with the Kurdistan Region, expressing hope for further development of bilateral relations in the future.
 

For his part, the Governor of Erbil thanked the Turkish Consul General in Erbil and stated that "we reaffirm our commitment to advancing cooperation with the Republic of Turkey in the fields of trade, investment, education, health, and tourism."
 

In another part of the discussion, both sides exchanged views on the recent events in Rojava and expressed hope that peace would be established in the region and that dialogue would prevail over the situation.
