Erbil Governor Meets with Qatar's Consul General Affairs Officer

On Thursday, January 29, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, visited the General Consulate of Qatar in Erbil and was welcomed by Meshaal Al-Hajri, the Consul General Affairs Officer.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized strengthening and further developing the political, economic, and commercial relations between Qatar and the Kurdistan Region, relations that have a deep and long history and are continuously progressing.
 

Subsequently, the Governor of Erbil highly appreciated the work of the Qatari Consulate in developing relations between the Kurdistan Region and their country. He stressed the strengthening and further development of relations between Erbil Governorate and the Consulate. He also thanked the Consul and the Consulate staff for their continuous cooperation with Erbil Governorate in resolving any issues or problems that may have arisen.

For his part, the Consul General Affairs Officer of Qatar in Erbil expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the support and assistance from the relevant parties of the Kurdistan Regional Government, especially Erbil Governorate. He praised the service projects in various sectors, particularly the development and prosperity that the capital Erbil has witnessed.
 

He also reaffirmed that his country's leadership views its relations with the Kurdistan Region with importance and interest, and they wish to advance the level of relations in all fields.
In this regard, both sides highlighted Qatari investment and job opportunities in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.

Finally, he extended his sincere thanks to the Governor of Erbil for his visit and expressed hope that their relations would see further advanced steps and that the channel for mutual visits would continue, based on providing more services.
