Kurdistan Region starts potato exports to the UAE

The Kurdistan Regional Government announced the start of exporting the local potato harvest to the United Arab Emirates on Monday, August 7, 2023.

In a speech delivered during his participation in the export start ceremony, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw stated that " With the support of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government for farmers, the local potato product in the Kurdistan Region this year amounted to 650,000 tons, while domestic consumption amounted to 100,000 tons, and it is possible to export the remaining amount outside the country, in this regard, the Kurdistan Regional Government will provide all facilities."

The governor hoped that the contract between these companies would not only encompass the export of potatoes, but all domestic products. Potato is regarded as one of the most well-known agricultural products due to its nutritional value, which is why most countries pay close attention to its cultivation and production.

In the Kurdistan Region, domestic potato production has increased by multiples of its previous level due to the product's high quality and has gained popularity on international markets.
